SEL with a Conscious Approach to Discipline

This Social Emotional Learning training, for child care providers and staff, is centered on increasing caregivers’ self-awareness and management of their thoughts, feelings, and actions. These skills enable caregivers to respond to conflict and challenging behavior from a place of calm. When calm, caregivers can use effective strategies to promote the child's social-emotional competencies so the child can manage their own emotions, learn from their mistakes, and make different choices in the future. The training session will include effective structures and strategies for increasing positive behavior and decreasing challenging behavior based on current brain research, child development information, and developmentally appropriate practices.

Each participant who completes the training will receive social emotional materials to support social emotional learning in the classroom (approx. value of $750).
